Maria Franca Murtas, the 83-year-old woman who suffered burns following a domestic accident at her home on Via Rubicone on September 19th, has died . She had been hospitalized for fifteen days at the Major Burns Center at the Santissima Annunziata Hospital in Sassari.
Murtas's life was initially not considered to be in danger. However, in recent days, her health worsened, until Saturday evening, when her heart stopped beating . Grieving, her close family immediately traveled to Sassari. She leaves behind a husband, Aldo Spiga, and five children: Raffaele, Nicola, Giulia, Manuela, and Simona.
The woman had been hit by a blaze that caused burns to her torso and arms while she was cooking in the kitchen. The cause was a gas leak, which also led to the explosion of a gas cylinder , the roar of which was heard throughout the neighborhood.
