Carabinieri officers from the Quartu Sant'Elena Company's Mobile Radio Unit responded to a theft in a residential area in the municipality of Monserrato . According to the investigation, a 53-year-old retired man, already known to law enforcement, entered the courtyard of an apartment building located on a street in the town center, stealing a parked Piaggio Vespa.
The man was stopped by an off-duty Carabinieri officer who witnessed the scene and promptly intervened. The officer then alerted his colleagues, who arrived on the scene. The 53-year-old was arrested for aggravated theft and will be tried in a fast-track trial.
