When solidarity calls, the Bonarcado community responds. After the tragedy that struck the family left homeless by a fire , a show of generosity was launched to support the immediate needs of the parents and their four children: shelter and basic necessities such as food, clothing, and personal effects.
The Sa Mola-Villa Maria Francesca restaurant offered to host the family free of charge until more suitable accommodations could be found. The parish's basic necessities collection center was filled with everything needed to support the family's immediate needs, such as food, clothing, and more.
Meanwhile, Mayor Annalisa Mele has taken action regarding public housing, and Area immediately responded: "The public housing agency has made housing available, but it must first make it accessible and habitable. Once these bureaucratic requirements, and therefore the technical and logistical ones, are completed, the family will be able to move in."
The fundraiser launched by parish priest Emanuele Lecca on the Gofundme platform reached the remarkable sum of €27,000 in just 24 hours: "Many people donated what they could, even a small contribution, but one of great generosity, was offered from the heart. These gestures remain deeply felt, alleviate suffering, and restore hope to these fellow citizens of ours," explains the vicar.
Mayor Mele: "I was moved and proud by the generosity of the people of Bonarca, as well as those of Montiferru and other parts of the island. They showed a great heart and sensitivity towards these unfortunate situations. They took action quickly to ensure our fellow citizens were provided for : truly humane behavior."
