The tombstone of Walter Frau, the carabiniere victim together with his colleague Ciriaco Carru of a shooting with a group of criminals, was damaged by unknown persons in the night.

The object, located in Ped'e Semene in Chilivani, was also smeared with insulting writings and threats addressed to the military.

The gesture was condemned by local institutions, by the Arma and by the President of the Region who spoke in a note also on behalf of the Giunta of a "criminal, vile and disgusting act, which offends not only the memory of a heroic carabiniere, but the conscience of all Sardinians ".

Frau and Carru were on duty at the Radiomobile on August 16, 1995 and had found a stolen vehicle inside which various firearms had been placed, together with another vehicle, also this theft proceeds. At the central they had communicated that they had made an arrest, that of Salvatore Antonio Giua, when suddenly someone - later identified as Graziano Palmas and Andrea Gusinu - shot them from behind with Kalashnikov shots. Carru had returned fire by wounding Palmas, and killing the man who had been arrested as he tried to escape. Palmas, however, had continued to explode shots against Carru, who was finally deceased. His colleague Frau, on the other hand, was shot dead by another criminal, Sebastiano Pirino, and by those of Gusinu.
