Two men from Desulo, aged 57 and 50, both with criminal records, were arrested on Friday afternoon by the Carabinieri of the local station for illegal cultivation of marijuana.

The operation was launched after an aerial reconnaissance conducted by the Elmas Carabinieri helicopter, during which the officers noted some anomalies in the terrain, consistent with the presence of hidden crops. Although the plants were well hidden by vegetation, the operators' expert eye allowed them to pinpoint the suspicious area.

The subsequent inspection confirmed the suspicions: in a particularly inaccessible and inaccessible area, a plantation was found consisting of 135 cannabis plants of different varieties, with heights ranging from 60 to 150 centimetres.

The police then set up observation services, which allowed them to catch the two suspects pruning the plants and loading them onto a car and tractor provided by them. Not far away, they also located a sheepfold used for drying the substance, thus confirming the presence of an entire production chain—cultivation, harvesting, and processing—concentrated on the same site.

All the material found was seized.

After their arrest, the two were initially placed under house arrest. Following the validation hearing, the judge ordered them to remain in the municipality of Desulo and report daily to the judicial police.
