A week after the sudden death at the age of 48 of Maria D'Itria Nicoletta Cuccu Gesturi is mobilizing for her children. Added to the pain of a premature and sudden loss is, in fact, the concern for Emanuela and Sara, the 9-year-old twins who already lost their father a few years ago. The town rallied around the family and the Municipality started a fundraiser to guarantee the two girls financial support.

The tragedy

«My mother was thalassemic, but she was fine. She suddenly felt sick. I reached her by phone and spoke to her, but after ten minutes they called me back and gave me the sad news", says Michele Tolu, the twenty-year-old son of Maria D'Itria who lives in Germany and who now together with his maternal grandparents and the maternal uncle will take care of the two little ones.

The mayor of Gesturi, Emilio Serra: «Many have asked us how they could have helped these two little girls. We have therefore decided to take action to collect as many resources as possible. Naturally the Municipality will do its part."
