A post-mortem examination will be performed tomorrow on the bodies of Teresa Vacca, 82, and her son Marco Durzu, 58, found yesterday in their home on Via San Giovanni in Maracalagonis . The examination will be conducted by coroner Professor Roberto Demontis, commissioned by Public Prosecutor Dr. Daniele Caria, to determine the cause of death for the mother and son.

As is known , no traces of violence were found in the house, nor was there any forced entry, not even at the front door. The coroner's task is to determine the cause of death for both mother and son: he had been bedridden for years after a car accident; she was retired.

Among the hypotheses is a case of asphyxiation, possibly caused by a drug or food ingested by the mother and child. Obviously, it will take several days for the histological and toxicological tests needed to determine the exact cause of death to be available.

The body of Teresa Vacca, 82, was found in the hallway of her home . A few meters away, in a bedroom, was the body of her son, Marco Durzu, 58, lying in bed from which he had been unable to get up due to a car accident many years ago that had left him a quadriplegic.

The woman was in constant contact with her family members living outside Maracalagonis, and as soon as news of the tragedy spread yesterday, they immediately rushed to the village. This tragic event has shocked the village, which is close to the family, whom they know and respect.
