Mohamed Abdou Elchodary 's preliminary hearing in Bancali prison could be scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, October 30th. The decision rests with the Tempio Pausania Court prosecutor Noemi Mancini, who is coordinating the investigation.
The 20-year-old Egyptian national was arrested yesterday evening in Olbia by the Carabinieri station on charges of killing Pietro Sciusco, a 42-year-old homeless man from Puglia, with several stab wounds to the heart and chest.
This morning, attorney Aurora Masu, representing the young suspect in the murder, received notice of the filing of the report of the personal search that occurred when Elchodary was arrested. He was found inside a house under renovation on Via Genova, following an hours-long manhunt. At the time of his arrest at the Olbia police station, the 20-year-old, assisted by deputy counsel Giuseppe De Meo, denied any involvement in the murder.
Attorney Masu emphasized that her defense will require viewing footage from numerous video surveillance cameras in the crime scene and along Corso Umberto.
"We will have to reconstruct the dynamics of what happened," the lawyer stated. "The murder weapon has not been found." According to what has been learned, Elchodary arrived in the city a few months ago, having previously lived in Rome. He is currently homeless and unemployed.
