The Region has filed an appeal with the Regional Administrative Court (TAR) against the Ministry of Justice regarding the transfer of prisoners under the 41 bis regime to the island . The Regional Council intends to obtain access to the documents relating to the proceedings that brought dozens of mafiosi and terrorists to Sardinia .

The request for access to the documents had been submitted by the Region on August 4th, but Via Arenula did not respond. Then, on September 5th, the raid occurred: the first detainees were transferred to UTA without any prior notification. "I only found out about it because ASL 8 requested the availability of medical personnel," Todde recalls.

"Faced with an unprecedented situation, marked by a total lack of institutional cooperation, we are responding by appealing to the Administrative Court to assert Sardinia's right to know the facts that led to the decision to transfer such a disproportionate number of prisoners under the special regime to our island, effectively discriminating against Sardinia compared to other regions. We will not back down," the president declared.

Todde then highlights all the problems the transfer will pose for the regional prison and healthcare system: " Uta and Bancali are already operating beyond their normal capacity and are suffering from a severe staffing shortage. Added to this is the need to provide healthcare to inmates with complex medical conditions, placing an additional burden on the regional healthcare system, borne by Sardinian citizens, without the state providing any form of compensation ."

This is just the first step, the governor promises: "I have a duty to defend the prerogatives of our autonomy and to protect the island's social and economic fabric from any potential consequences resulting from decisions made without involving the local community. We will not stop."
