A 49-year-old man with a criminal record and a 47-year-old woman were arrested by the Carabinieri of the Macomer company, accused of extortion and possession of explosive material.

The police acted after receiving a complaint from a person who claimed to be receiving threats and extortion demands for a drug debt owed to the two arrested men. The Carabinieri immediately set up a surveillance unit at the agreed-upon meeting point between the victim and the extortionists, who obtained €260. Carabinieri officers from the Macomer station witnessed the incident, along with their colleagues from the operational unit, who documented the entire incident.

The two suspects were then arrested, found in possession of the banknotes they had received shortly before. During a search of their home, officers found a homemade explosive device with a fuse weighing approximately 150 grams in a bedroom. The perpetrators were arrested in flagrante delicto and taken to prison.
