The bus driver who, while using his cell phone , hit and killed a seventy-year-old of Senegalese origins on 131, not far from Lula, was sentenced to two years. The incident dates back to December 21st . Salvatore Cadoni, forty years old, from Olbia, negotiated his sentence on 3 July in the Court of Nuoro and his driving license was also withdrawn.

The victim was called Serigne Gueye and lived in Torpè. The crash occurred along State Road 131 dcn (dir/centr Nuorese), in the north lane, for Olbia. Gueye, who had arrived in Sardinia to work and help his family who remained in Senegal, had got out of his van due to a breakdown. That's when the bus hit him, leaving no sign of braking.

After the impact, the bus continued its journey before stopping for another 115 metres. A dynamic that left no escape for the immigrant, who died practically instantly. To aggravate the position of the driver of the service vehicle, the images extrapolated from the video surveillance system installed in the bus from which it emerged that during the time in which the accident occurred the driver used his mobile phone on several occasions , in particular from 8.27 pm to 8.29 pm and eight seconds, when a loud noise is heard, that of the crash, and a few seconds later the driver stops the ride and immediately gets out of the vehicle .

Cadoni, who was also fired from his company following his driving behavior, was immediately entered into the register of suspects for the crime of road homicide by the Public Prosecutor of the Nuoro Prosecutor's Office Ireno Satta, but even before the Deputy The prosecutor closed the preliminary investigations, faced with his overwhelming responsibilities, he asked for a plea bargain and this led to the hearing on Wednesday 3 July and the two-year sentence. After the tragedy, the victim's family members entrusted themselves to Studio3A-Valore SpA, a company that took care of the repatriation of the body to its country of origin.
