Opposition to the attack following the TAR's decision to reject the appointment of local health authorities (ASL) by the Todde administration last April, and after the administrative judges upheld the appeal for reinstatement filed by the former general director of the Sassari ASL, Flavio Sensi.

«Todde's strategy for healthcare continues to prove a failure across the board and, as always, it is the citizens who pay a high price for it», states Paolo Truzzu, group leader of the Brothers of Italy party in the regional council, according to whom the last two years have been «disastrous» for healthcare on the island.

"The appointment of Councilor Bartolazzi, which turned out to be nothing more than a thunderclap, sent back to Rome on a one-way flight; the former general directors of the twelve health authorities replaced by commissioners whose appointments were declared unconstitutional; multi-million dollar appeals that will weigh heavily on citizens' pockets; hospitals on the verge of collapse ; and now Director Flavio Sensi, who won the appeal and will have to be reinstated as head of the Sassari Local Health Authority," Truzzu lists. According to him , "the only person responsible for the disaster we find ourselves in is President Todde, who, heedless of the cries for help, continues undeterred in her acts of arrogance and incompetence."

Again, the FdI group leader insists, "there is no vision for the future in the regional government, no awareness of the present, only the excruciating agony into which Sardinia is sinking under the careless gaze of a councilor [Todde holds the interim health mandate, ed.] who is 'blind and deaf' to the cries for help from all citizens." "The instability of the healthcare system creates uncertainty for the future, and it will be almost impossible to recover," Truzzu concludes.

Still on the subject of local health authority administrations, Fausto Piga, deputy group leader of the Brothers of Italy party, proposed, as the first signatory, an amendment to the regional budget to allocate €3 million "for the prudential establishment of a fund for damages claims following Constitutional Court ruling no. 198/2005, which determined the unfair dismissal of the former general directors of health services as unlawful."

"Todde," Piga says, "is keeping the problem under wraps, but it's important for Sardinians to be informed, because this is a scandal of mismanagement of public finances. Todde's reckless and shameless spoils system has been declared illegal by the Constitutional Court, and now the managers removed without just cause will seek compensation from the Region for the financial and moral damages they unjustly suffered. " "This isn't a provocation—I wish it were," Piga concludes, "but it's necessary to include a fund in the budget to compensate for Todde's damages in the healthcare system."
