From the comparison between the agricultural entrepreneurs of Nurra and exponents of local and regional politics, promoted by the president of the Consorzio di Bonifica della Nurra, a dramatic picture emerged in view of the irrigation campaign .

There is no water in the basins and the water reserved for the countryside is limited to the treated wastewater from Sassari and Alghero fed into the network: just over 1 million cubic metres per month .
They are just enough to make the companies go to 40/50 percent of their potential . For the rest, assured the regional councilor for agriculture, Gian Franco Satta, the Region is thinking of limiting the inconvenience by financially compensating the damaged farmers.

For the future, the planned interventions will concern the efficiency of the distribution networks, where half of the water introduced is lost . And also the construction of hydraulic engineering works, dams and interconnections, partly already financed by the European community, but certainly not of rapid feasibility.

Strong concern in the agricultural world that calls for support and solutions to save the season.

"We are clearly behind schedule, we need to plan. Little rain, little water in the dams, perhaps never like this year . We are left with waste water from Sassari, Alghero and a few wells that we cannot venture to use to irrigate the countryside", laments the president of the Consorzio di Bonifica della Nurra, Gavino Zirattu .

Regional Councillor for Agriculture Gian Franco Satta : «The immediate solution we have offered is the use of waste water, one million cubic metres per month for the consortium that allow crops to be kept afloat. And then resources to support businesses with compensation and make networks more efficient ». Finally, «we must give clear answers on interventions already planned, there are 150 million that must be spent immediately».

Agricultural entrepreneur Mario Nonne speaks of a "dramatic" situation , asking politicians to "put their hands on their consciences". While Maria Grazia Murrocu , also an entrepreneur, underlines the negative repercussions on tourism: " How can we welcome tourists without water? How can we prepare our food without water? We must remedy this immediately ".
