In 2018 it used ships other than those provided for in the contract stipulated with the State for maritime territorial continuity. For this reason Cin Tirrenia was fined 500 thousand euros .
The Council of State rejected four appeals from the Onorato group company, which requested the annulment of the sentences of the Lazio Regional Administrative Court which had confirmed the sanctions imposed in 2018 on the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport .
The non-compliances concerned some trips on the Civitavecchia-Cagliari-Arbatax line and on the Civitavecchia-Olbia line: they date back to the period between February and April 2018. The ships essentially had a more limited transport capacity, and did not respect «the qualitative and quantitative standards » of the contract stipulated with the ministry, write the administrative judges.
«The Company – we read in the sentence – cannot change naval units at its own discretion, it must be authorized».
«Finally the sanctions are applicable», comments the general secretary of the FIT Cisl Sardinia, Ignazio Lai . «Our union has always disapproved and contested the discrepancies found with respect to the agreement, discrepancies which constitute the basis for not guaranteeing a correct service to be provided to Sardinians and to all Italian users. The company has limited both the number of passengers transported and the commercial transport service. It is saddening that such a serious contractual deviation had to wait for so many judgements ."
