"Kiril Kachalaba was only 18 years old and had many dreams yet to come true. He had fled his war-torn homeland to seek a better future, but he found death."
The mayor of Selargius, Gigi Concu, thus remembers the young Ukrainian – resident of the hinterland town – who was hit and killed by a car on Tuesday evening while riding his electric scooter, in Via Is Maglias , in Cagliari.
"Another young life cut short, bringing mourning to our community," recalls Concu, "where Kiril was living in a Caritas facility, and to the Ukrainian community, which has lost another of its sons."
Concu, speaking personally and on behalf of the entire municipal administration, said: "I express my deepest condolences and sympathy to the family, relatives, and friends who are mourning with us today."
