"We didn't destroy the junipers at Punta Molentis; we simply cleaned up a private area of our property . The €210 fine and the rangers' complaint only concern the pruning of three junipers and a lack of authorization, given that it's a SIC zone."
Daniele Fanni, 40, from Cagliari, who, along with other family members, owns the concession to manage the beach club and kiosk at Punta Molentis, refuses to accept the accusation of environmental devastation. In recent days, he received a fine from the Forestry Department for cutting down some trees. This fine was imposed for an act that has sparked much controversy.
We removed tons of waste from the bushes, including glass, cans, and other debris. We had permits to prune the junipers and mastic trees, and in fact the rangers' complaint only concerns a cut that exceeds the legal limit. We will try to dismiss this complaint in court. We care deeply about Punta Molentis; we were the most damaged by the fire in July. Our commitment is to protecting nature.
