110 thousand euros raised for the young patients of Brotzu with Joint Stars for Charity, the charity initiative ended up in the crosshairs of several anti-militarist associations because it was seen as "war propaganda", being a sort of "appetizer" of Joint Stars 2025, the most important joint exercise of the Italian Defense, hosted in Sardinia.
The Banda Interforze, on board the ship Trieste, docked at the port of Cagliari, held a benefit concert. It performed famous pieces such as Bizet's "Carmen" and the evocative compositions of Ennio Morricone, and then thrilled the audience with an orchestral version of "Meraviglioso" by Domenico Modugno, arranged by Maestro Conductor Ciafrei.
Artists from the Italian music scene also performed on stage, such as Gaia Gentile and the singer-songwriter Bungaro, accompanied by the saxophonist Raffaele Casarano.
The concert's goal is to support the purchase of at least two ventilator stations for the pediatric intensive care unit of Arnas Brotzu. Many companies donated, more than 110 thousand euros were collected .
The initiative is sponsored by the Sardinia Region and the Municipality of Cagliari.
The words of General of the Army Corps Giovanni Maria Iannucci, commander of Covi: "We military operate in areas tormented by conflict and instability, where the most vulnerable subjects are children. This is why we want to take care of them, this initiative is not a way to curry favor with a community, we do not need it and it would not do justice to Sardinia and its beautiful people ."
