Inmate dies in Bancali: he had requested a transfer to another facility

The 33-year-old Algerian man discovered dead in the bathroom of his cell on July 16th wanted to leave Bancali.
The man had applied for a transfer, but his death occurred first. The case is currently being investigated by prosecutor Damiano Rossi of the Sassari public prosecutor's office.
The deputy prosecutor entrusted the investigation to the prison police, ordering an autopsy, which was performed on Friday, July 24, by coroner Matilde Ruju. The reasons that led the man to file an application to leave prison are currently unknown.
The prisoner, who had an expulsion order pending, was supposed to complete his sentence in just under two months. Meanwhile, the immigrant's father and sister have appointed lawyer Maria Assunta Argiolas to represent them in the matter.
