Chaos and tensions erupted at the Andriolu ASL Outpatient Clinic in the municipality of Porto Torres, where a general practitioner allegedly refused to see some patients during their medical service. Patients rebelled, demanding the intervention of the Carabinieri. Before the officers, the doctor stood firm, citing her decision as being out of hours. The case was brought to the council chamber following a report by Councilor Ivan Cermelli.
Mayor Massimo Mulas has requested an immediate meeting with the health facility manager to find a solution and avoid unpleasant situations like those that occurred last Friday.
"I emphasize, however," the mayor said, "that healthcare services cannot be limited. Some Ascot doctors expressed the need to respect opening and closing hours, but when they have a large number of patients waiting inside their offices, they could be more courteous."
The mayor will ask for a review of the methods used to communicate with patients. " As an administration, we can say that we have worked to avoid the burden of concentrated work at the Andriolu Outpatient Clinic, easing congestion by granting space to the Sassari Local Health Authority," Mulas adds, "capable of accommodating two general practitioners at the Viale delle Vigne premises and two more at the Piazza Garibaldi premises, with the aim of having a third soon. This is what the administration can do to limit the inconvenience."
