Fatal illness for a 67-year-old from San Nicolò d'Arcidano, who died this morning while collecting clams in the Marceddì pond.

The tragedy took place in just a few minutes: Giuseppe Pitzalis, in the company of a brother and a friend, was collecting mussels in the part of the lagoon at road number 8, when he suddenly fell ill and ended up in the water.

The alarm was raised immediately, the 118 ambulance and the air ambulance intervened on the spot , but there was nothing they could do for the pensioner. The carabinieri also attended the scene.
