A 38-year-old from Dorgali was reported by the police because he was held responsible for the arson of a 41-year-old's vehicle, which occurred on the night of 6 September last in via Gramsci, right in Dorgali.

According to what has emerged so far from the investigations, that night, for reasons still being ascertained, the suspect would have furtively approached the place where the vehicle was parked and had it completely destroyed by flames, after having poured on the front of the same a flammable liquid, probably petrol.

Initially the investigations were complicated by the fact that the owner of the car had no suspicions about anyone and had never reported having ever been the subject of threats or having any disagreements.

The military, however, after starting the investigation and also viewing the images of some surveillance cameras , managed to identify the alleged perpetrator, who fled on foot with a can of petrol in the moments immediately following the event.

Furthermore, during a search, the military found in the 38-year-old's home the jacket that he would have been wearing the night the raid was carried out , which was seized and included among the evidence against him.

Investigations are now continuing to shed full light on the matter.
