A motorcyclist was seriously injured this morning shortly before 10, after going off the road while proceeding on the Sassari-Olbia road.

The 64-year-old man originally from Udine lost control of the vehicle at Berchidda , hitting the signals of a construction site area.

In the impact he was thrown from the bike for a few meters. Immediately rescued by the 118 helicopter, he was transported in red code to the Giovanni Paolo II hospital in Olbia.

He suffered some fractures and a head injury. His conditions are serious.

Firefighters and law enforcement officers are also at the scene.

Traffic was blocked for a few hours before being able to resume normally.
