Michele Fresi did not present any mental condition that would have impaired his ability to assess reality and was perfectly aware of the dangers of massive drug use.

These are the assessments of the Assize Court of Sassari on the responsibility of the 28-year-old young man from Arzachena, sentenced to life imprisonment for killing his father Giovanni Fresi .

The events occurred in Arzachena in the final days of 2023. The victim was repeatedly struck in the head with a stick. Before killing his father, Michele Fresi seriously injured a friend and also struck two Carabinieri officers during a violent fight.

The young man from Arzachena was the protagonist of a violent outburst with tragic consequences, after taking a mixture of drugs: LSD, cocaine, and marijuana. The judges ruled that his choice was a free one, and the magistrates also noted that the young man had the "skills" to perfectly assess the potential consequences of reckless drug use.

This is the view of the Tempio Prosecutor's Office and the civil plaintiffs' lawyers, Massimo Schirò, Giampaolo Murrighile, and Jacopo Merlini. The young man from Arzachena's defense attorney, Pierfranco Tirotto, has already announced he will appeal.
