The Municipality of Sorso, after a week, is still dealing with the hacker attack on the IT system of the town hall. The municipal administration first of all promptly notified, as well as within the deadline, the probable violation of personal data to the Privacy Authority as required by law.
The Authority ensures that there will be no automatic inspection by the same body, but rather the report will be followed by a procedure based on the exchange of correspondence and documentary production between the Municipality and the Guarantor Authority in order to monitor the progress of the investigations and the containment and prevention activities carried out by the administration. Based on the elements available, with the cyber attack there would have been no "exfiltration", i.e. withdrawal from the servers, of data of any nature including personal data.
"The work of the appointed expert firm - states Mayor Fabrizio Demelas - has been proceeding without stopping since Tuesday morning, in synergy with our computer scientists at the CED and in constant contact with the municipal administration. Important steps forward are being made even if, to this day, maximum caution is still required. We remain confident and expect to have a clear and almost definitive picture by next week regarding the outcome of the data recovery process and the resumption of full operation of the Authority's services".
