A griffin in obvious difficulty was rescued on the side of State Road 131 , near Villagreca, a hamlet in the municipality of Nuraminis .

The collaboration of the citizens was fundamental, as they reported the presence of the specimen to the Operations Center 1515 and immobilized it, preventing it from being run over by passing cars .

The immediate intervention of the Forestry Corps staff did the rest: the vulture was transferred to the Wildlife Recovery Center of the Forestry Agency in Monastir , where it is hospitalized for observation.

The griffon vulture, once widespread in Sardinia, is currently present in the Bosano and Montiferru areas, where it lives in colonies. The young rescued specimen had most likely moved away from the group and lost its orientation .
