« Chaos is at risk in the electricity sector due to the uncertainty of the final date by which to re-enter the protected market to enjoy the advantages of the gradual protection service: Arera has set the deadline for 30 June, but the puzzle of the technical times required by companies to complete the operation". The complaint comes from Consumerismo No Profit and Adiconsum Sardegna, which report "strong critical issues" for those who want to re-enter the protected market and enjoy the discounts of the gradual protection service. «The protected electricity market will end on July 1st: non-vulnerable domestic customers (therefore under 75 and without certified health problems) who by that date have not chosen an operator on the free market will be automatically transferred to the gradual protection service, which it will last until March 31, 2027", explain the two associations.

Customers who are in the free market can choose to enjoy the discounts of the gradual protections, equal to approximately 131 euros per year per user, "only by returning to the protected market" by 30 June.

To do so they must necessarily start the return procedure. «However, the methods for finalizing the operation of returning from the free market to the protected market, as interpreted and managed by the various major protection energy suppliers, are cumbersome, not easy to implement for the average consumer, and the times expected to obtain the passage range from a minimum of three weeks to a maximum of two months", say Consumerismo and Adiconsum Sardegna.

The question therefore is: what will happen to those users who have submitted an application to return to protected status by 30 June but who have not yet obtained the completion of the transition by that date? Adiconsum and Consumerismo ask the Government and Arera "to provide an immediate response, clarifying the doubts".
