A 38-year-old unemployed man living in Gonnosfanadiga was arrested today by the Carabinieri on charges of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking . The operation took place during a routine checkpoint in the Santa Severa area.

The officers noticed the man's suspicious behavior, and upon seeing the patrol, he quickly threw away two aluminum foil packages. After recovering the material, the Carabinieri determined it to be hashish, weighing a total of 3.82 grams.

The subsequent personal search also revealed 36 euros in cash, divided into banknotes of various denominations, which prompted the police to investigate further.

During the house search, a further 71 grams of hashish were found , as well as precision scales and material used for cutting and packaging the substance.

Once the evidence had been reconstructed , the man – already known to the police – was taken to the barracks and, following the formal procedures, placed under house arrest, pending a validation hearing by the judicial authorities.
