Election eve at high tension in Goni, where citizens are called to the polls to elect the new municipal council.
The local political forces were ready to present two lists, but they decided not to participate in the electoral round to allow the commissioner Remo Ortu (who leads the Municipality after the resignation of the former mayor Manuela Guggeri) to complete his mandate. The presentation of the list "Forza del popolo" led by Elia Demuro, a 53-year-old teacher from Sinnai who entered the field with eight other aspiring councilors, caused great surprise.
None of them live in Goni, where the focus is now on abstentionism.
"We are not going to vote - commented many citizens - it is better that the commissioner stays. He has worked very well and will complete other projects that are waiting to be unblocked. The presence of this list offends the Gonese community. They do not know the reality of our country".
