Some people were already stationed in front of the Local Health Authority on Via Carducci before sunset. Then came the night, the chairs, the numbers, and an ever-growing line to secure one of the thousand available spots for two general practitioners. The rush ended at 9:30 a.m., when all the spots were already filled: anyone who arrived later, at the counter or through the portal, was left out. "I arrived at 5:25 a.m. and there were already tons of people in line," said one resident. "I was 82nd in line, and I thought that was a good number, considering there were 1,000 spots available."

Then came the surprise: "I was told there were people ahead of me with 10, 20, even 30 proxies. And in fact, I wasn't able to make the choice. I don't object to the line; we're used to it by now. But this proxies mechanism isn't clear: are there really people queuing for so many people? The Local Health Authority should clarify." That long line under the porticos also shocked Barbara Concu, originally from Oristano and a 25-year resident of Lombardy. "I passed by Via Carducci around 6 a.m. and saw the line of people. I was outraged: it's unacceptable that the sacrosanct right to healthcare should lead to this."

Salvatore Ledda, provincial secretary of the Brothers of Italy party, also commented harshly: "When a community is forced to spend the night on a sidewalk to access an essential service, we're no longer dealing with a simple disservice. We're witnessing the failure of a system that has stopped putting people first."

ASL 5 General Manager Grazia Cattina expressed "extreme regret for the inconvenience." She noted that the two doctors, Marta Frongia and Margherita Sanna, can now each care for 500 more patients in the Oristano area, but admitted that "there are still many, too many, patients who are not eligible, in this and other areas." Regarding procedures, the company noted that the regional Zenteweb portal "functioned correctly," albeit with "some delays due to the high number of simultaneous accesses." At the counters, however, "there was a high influx of people, which was managed orderly, once the counters opened, using the queue management machine."

The issue of delegations remains. The Local Health Authority (ASL) has announced that "regarding the large number of delegations submitted by the same patient, the general management has initiated the appropriate investigation." Meanwhile, for those left without a doctor, the emergency primary care clinic at the Casa della Comunità remains open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
