From invisible to visible, from alone to part of a community . The story of Jhaneth Rojas Sandoval, her husband Aurelio and her mother Olghita, the Peruvians who stayed there for four days and four nights, among the cold chairs of the arrivals area of Cagliari-Elmas airport, has a happy ending .
Suspended in a limbo of uncertainty and solitude, with the hope that someone would notice them, that someone would lend a hand, after the appeal launched by Jhaneth through our newspaper, the solidarity machine was set in motion in less than 24 hours, transforming their wait into a new beginning.
Caritas Cagliari took charge of the family, guiding them through the steps necessary for a dignified welcome : the declaration of indigence at the Police Headquarters, the visit to the ASL and, finally, with the approval of the Prefecture, the transfer to Vallermosa was organized in a facility for asylum seekers.
A warm meal and reassuring faces welcomed them. After days of uncertainty, finally some peace. In these hours, many ordinary people have called our newspaper to offer support and a job, thus demonstrating that solidarity is still a living value.
