"Children point to a serene and peaceful path of life." Observing the new nature trail that runs along the lagoon, moments before the ribbon-cutting, Father Battista Mura urged the crowd to be messengers of peace: "Let us cross the streets of the world bringing hope and a sign of harmony. May the trail be a place of relaxation."
The words of the parish priest of Girasole were followed this morning by warm applause, a preview of the ribbon-cutting ceremony, attended by regional and provincial councilors, and mayors of the Union of Municipalities of Northern Ogliastra, under whose aegis the initiative was developed. Part of the master plan "Ogliastra, Paths of Long Life," the ceremony was attended by a crowd of children and parents on bicycles.
"We are happy and satisfied," said Girasole Mayor Lodovico Piras, "to have been able to carry out an important project, not only for our town but for all the municipalities in the Union that believed in it. This achievement is the result of collaboration and perseverance. This project combines a spirit of collaboration, sport, and respect for the environment." The nature trail, previously used by farmers passing through with their herds of cows, was completed in four months by the Luca Demurtas company.
