An attempted robbery occurred overnight at the Banco di Sardegna ATM in Fonni . Unknown individuals placed a bomb in front of the ATM with the intention of detonating it and stealing the cash inside.
For reasons still being investigated, the robbery was unsuccessful and the criminals fled before managing to complete their attack.
The Carabinieri intervened on the scene and began investigations to reconstruct what happened and identify those responsible.
According to reports, the criminals scattered nails around the area around the bank, which is located opposite the jewelry store that had been robbed using an excavator taken from a nearby construction site.
