It was a busy day on the forest fire front in Sardinia, where the Forestry Corps and the regional civil protection system were working tirelessly on multiple fronts to put out several blazes that had broken out simultaneously in various parts of the island. The extinguishing operations, complicated by the wind and high temperatures, required the massive deployment of heavy and light aircraft.
The first complex situation occurred in the Alghero countryside, in the C. Filibertu area, where the flames threatened the local vegetation. To address the emergency, the Forestry Corps mobilized a massive deployment of aircraft: a helicopter from the Bosa operations base, another from the Anela base, and the powerful SuperPuma, which took off from Fenosu.
Previously, there had also been moments of great concern in the Padru area, in Gallura, where a violent fire broke out in the countryside of the Ludurru area.
The rapid spread of the flames required an immediate and massive response from the firefighting team. A SuperPuma, a light helicopter, and two Canadairs responded initially. Then, due to the violence of the fire, the operations center ordered the immediate dispatch of a second SuperPuma and an additional helicopter.
Another front opened in Pimentel , in the Solaris area. The alert was quickly raised, allowing for the immediate dispatch of a ground team and air support from a helicopter.
In the evening, the emergency moved to Ozieri: a Canadair was also requested to combat the flames that started in the Acqua Gazzosina area.
