The Loiri Porto San Paolo City Council meeting scheduled for Thursday, June 25th promises to be heated.
The minority has announced a new intervention in the Cala Finanza affair (a Sardinian-Brazilian project for a luxury zero-volume campsite) .
The opposition councilors will ask for the resignation of Mayor Francesco Lai and Councilor Riccardo Biancu (brother of Alberto Biancu, the administrator of the proposing company Tavolara Bay).
Mayor Lai was clear in his latest remarks: "The opinion of the Municipal Technical Office was negative. The mobile structures, the outdoor seating, the platforms, the cabins—everything—were rejected. In fact, the opinions of the Municipality of Loiri Porto San Paolo only allow the change of use of the existing villa . No glamping, no new developments. And access to the sea must be guaranteed."
Opposition councilor Maurizio Zirottu, however, stated: "I voted in favor of the resolution in November 2025 because, on paper, there were guarantees of a favorable agreement for our community. Zero building volumes and an eight-hectare public park with a fitness trail facing Tavolara Bay. An absolute requirement to close the door to any speculation. In February, however, bulldozers arrived at Cala Finanza and the vegetation was cut down. We cannot accept this. The question is, who met with whom when this project was being prepared, who provided the guarantees and entered into informal agreements with Tavolara Bay? We need to know this to understand what is happening."
The Tempio Pausania Public Prosecutor's Office is handling the case based on information from the Forestry Corps.
According to rumors, the Cala Finanza dossier held by the Government (on the basis of which the permits were issued) contains reports containing data and descriptions of the locations that do not match the results of the inspections carried out on the site (former Villa Joy and ten hectares adjacent to the property).
In essence, those who conducted the investigations to describe the state of Cala Finanza reported one thing, and Rome received another. For example, regarding the characteristics and extent of the wooded areas. These could be errors in the data transfer, and they certainly don't implicate Tavolara Bay, but the matter needs clarification.
