"The fight against urban decay and the indiscriminate dumping of waste in the municipal area continues."

Mayor Tomaso Locci expressed his satisfaction on social media, noting that the video surveillance system deployed in several sensitive areas of the city has allowed local police to "identify numerous environmental offenders, caught dumping bags of waste and bulky materials in unauthorized areas."

The images recorded by the cameras, released by the mayor himself , document uncivilized behavior that negatively impacts the environment and the quality of life of citizens, as well as generating additional costs for the community related to remediation and cleaning operations.

"In Monserrato, impunity is not an option," Locci shouts. "Identified violators will be fined and, where applicable, reported to the judicial authorities. This is a clear message to those who continue to use streets and public spaces as illegal dumping grounds."

The mayor also recalls that since 2016, the Municipality has invested in strengthening video surveillance as a tool for preventing and repressing crime.

"A process that has produced concrete results: a reduction in hotspots, greater control of the area, and timely responses to residents' reports."

The monitoring activity will continue in the coming months. "We will continue these checks and further strengthen our commitment," the mayor emphasizes, noting that the free bulky waste collection service is regularly active and easily accessible, making street dumping completely unjustifiable.

The mayor also thanked the local police and Commander Soru for their analysis and monitoring work, as well as the municipal offices, technicians, Gesenu workers, and Environment Councilor Saverio Deroma for their collaboration.

"Technology is essential, but the real key is collaboration between institutions and citizens," Locci concludes. "The decorum of Monserrato is a common good that must be defended every day."
