Faith, tradition, and religious rites begin tomorrow, Sunday, May 3rd, to celebrate the Martyrs of Porto Torres. Porto Torres is preparing for the Festha Manna, dedicated to the worship of the three Saints Gavino, Proto, and Gianuario, which will reach its climax on May 23rd, 24th, and 25th.

This year, the program has been modified due to safety measures at the small church of Balai Vicino. The wooden statues of the three Martyrs will be accompanied in procession, following the celebration of Mass at 6:00 PM at the Basilica of San Gavino. The procession begins from the Atrio Metropoli, crosses Via Sassari and Via Balai, and reaches the Piazzale dei Caduti della Corazzata Roma, where they will rest for approximately an hour and allow the faithful to pray. At the end, they will be returned, privately, to the underground crypt of the Basilica, where they will remain until May 24th. On Saturday, May 23rd, at 10:00 PM, the "Night Pilgrimage," organized by the Archdiocese of Sassari, will depart from the Cathedral of San Nicola in Sassari and head to the Basilica of San Gavino. The Pilgrim's Mass will be celebrated there at 3:00 AM. The following day, Pentecost Sunday, at 5:00 PM, the steps of the small church of Balai Vicino will be the setting for the historical reenactment in traditional medieval dress, "The Dream of Comita," organized by the Giudicato di Torres Association. Later, at 6:00 PM, a Eucharistic celebration will be held in Balai Park, presided over by Monsignor Salvatore Masia and concelebrated by the city's parish priests and priests. At 7:00 PM, the solemn procession will begin from Balai Park, accompanying the return of the statues of the Holy Martyrs of Torres to the Basilica of San Gavino, where they will remain until May 3 of next year.

On Monday, May 25, at 10:30 a.m., the Solemn Pontifical Mass will be held in the Basilica of San Gavino. Presided over by Metropolitan Archbishop Francesco Soddu and concelebrated by the parish priests and priests of the diocese, it will conclude with the traditional exchange of keys between the mayors of Porto Torres and Sassari, a symbolic rite representing the communion between the two cities. The service will be broadcast live on Videolina television on channel 10 of digital terrestrial television and on channel 819 of Sky and TivùSat, and streamed on www.videolina.it and on the L'Unione Digital app.
At 11 a.m., the procession in honor of the Blessed Sacrament will begin, concluding with the blessing of the sea in the port area.
