Roberto Sirigu was driving drunk when, at dawn on April 19, he lost control of his motorbike, crashing into a road sign on State Road 466. In the violent impact, his passenger, Mirko Farris, 37 years old from Quartu, lost his life, thrown metres away and died instantly.

Now, two weeks later, the driver – the victim's age and also a resident of Quartu – has been charged with road homicide aggravated by drunk driving.

The blood alcohol level detected by toxicology tests, ordered immediately after the accident by the Cagliari Prosecutor's Office, revealed 1.87 grams per litre of blood, more than three times the legal limit.

The motorcyclist had been transported in red code to the Brotzu hospital in Cagliari, while there was nothing that could be done for his friend.

The investigations of the Carabinieri of Dolianova, coordinated by the judicial authorities, led to the seizure of the vehicle and to a series of planimetric surveys and testimonies that confirm the dynamics of the accident: the exit from the road at kilometer 9+700, while the two were headed towards Monastir. The file is now in the hands of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Cagliari.
