The investigation into the death of Giuseppe Mannoni, 28, from Thiesi, is in its final stages. He died on September 3, 2024, in Nuoro, following a desperate neurosurgery procedure. A few days before being admitted to the Barbagia hospital, the young man had been involved in an argument in a parking lot in Baia Sardinia, a matter that has never been fully clarified. Mannoni reportedly intervened to break up a fight between two friends who were throwing drinks at each other, and then fell, hitting his head violently.
The Tempio Pausania Public Prosecutor's Office has ruled that the doctors and nurses at Olbia hospital, who first took care of the boy at dawn on August 26, 2024, are not responsible.
The investigation focused on certain circumstances (e.g., leaving the emergency room without a CT scan) that evidently yielded no evidence. However, the only suspect in the case remains the young German tourist (Arthur Sergeyevich Shendrik, a Berlin resident), accused of striking the victim (either punching or pushing him).
Giuseppe Mannoni's family is being represented by lawyers Nicola Satta and Sergio Milia. The lawyers are awaiting the documents before deciding whether to challenge the case's dismissal. The Gallura Prosecutor's Office is due to issue its final assessment of the young suspect's position; he is charged with manslaughter.
