Quartu is once again facing a family doctor emergency. When a doctor retired at the end of April, chaos broke out again: the 1,500 patients she treated found themselves without a place to live, and new patients couldn't choose their own doctor either.

So, in the end, a ploy was found: the doctors on duty were asked, on a voluntary basis, to increase the number of patients they treated from 1,500 to 1,800 while waiting for new appointments . Seven of the 42 agreed.

And if Ares assures that "the new doctors have already been appointed", the fact remains that now all the patients temporarily placed with the doctors in service for six months , later, upon the arrival of the new ones, will have to change again.

In short, the usual problems that arise after seven doctors were sent into retirement a few months ago only to be recalled to service later .

The Ares offices explain: "In recent days, Ares Sardegna has completed the administrative process for assigning vacant general practitioner positions in the region for the 2026 fiscal year." That said, "the Quartu office has been accepted by two professionals who have 45 days from the date of notification from the Local Health Authority (ASL) to open their practice. The doctor may request an extension of another 45 days if there are difficulties in opening the practice. Once all procedures have been completed, the citizen will be able to choose one of the two new doctors for themselves and their legal guardians."
