Faith and devotion, the dressing of the Candelieri has begun in Sassari

The Dressing of the Candelieri began this morning in Sassari, a prelude to tonight's Faradda. The ceremony was opened by the usual procession that, from Palazzo Ducale, accompanied the mayor Giuseppe Mascia and the Gremio dei Massai to Palazzo di Città.

Here, in the Sala della Rappresentanza, the corporation set up the flag that was then hoisted outside the balcony of the Palace. Several ears of wheat were distributed, the distinctive sign of the association. "Inheriting a tradition - said the mayor - is the best thing you can do. At zent'anni!" Tonight the Massai will return to the City Palace for the Intregu ceremony and the exchange of the Flag with the municipal gonfalon.

From there on, the mayor and the council will parade along the route of the Festha Manna until arriving in Piazza Santa Maria for the dissolution of the Vote to the Assumption. Meanwhile, in the morning, each of the 13 Gremi will prepare with flowers and bora bora, in their own headquarters, the candle that will parade from 6 pm onwards for the Faradda.
