A massive hatching occurred on Solanas beach following the discovery last week of a loggerhead turtle nest : an estimated 92 baby turtles reached the sea in a spectacle of great intensity and fascination for those lucky enough to witness it. "What happened at Solanas," said the mayor of Sinnai, Barbara Pusceddu, "represents an important signal for biodiversity and the protection of the species, which continues to choose the Sardinian coast as a nesting site. This event is all the more important for us because it is being experienced on our Solanas beach."

Perhaps it has never happened, or at least no one remembers, such an event on Solanas beach . It all started last week, with the hatching of an egg: the loggerhead turtle, instead of approaching the sea, had headed toward a nearby house and was immediately rescued, with the alarm raised at the Villasimius Marine Protected Area and the Forestry Department.

A biologist arrived on site, accompanied by Forestry Corps personnel, and located the nest containing the other eggs. The area was fenced off. It's almost a small miracle of nature, now that the tourist season is approaching autumn, ensuring a quieter vacation on a stunning sea and beach .

"I live here every day," says Vittorio Serra, a dentist from Sinnai and owner of the "Solanas Surf" school. "The sea is my great passion, but I've never heard of loggerhead sea turtle nests on this beach . Although it's obviously possible that others have hatched here, taking to the sea away from prying eyes. Now let's enjoy this spectacle, respecting a treasure like this. The presence of loggerhead sea turtles is truly a wonderful sign, both environmentally and scientifically, for all of us who love Solanas."
