On the thirteenth day of the sit-in at the silo forty metres above ground , Eurallumina workers suspended their protest in preparation for the meeting at Mimit called for 10 December.

The workers' assembly that met in Portovesme welcomed the commitments made by Minister of Labor Marina Calderone and, sharing the decision with the silo workers, suspended the protest, pending the outcome of the ministerial meeting.

The workers who spent thirteen days on the silo joined their colleagues in the assembly.

While attending a Confindustria conference in Cagliari, Labor Minister Marina Elvira Calderone traveled to Portovesme yesterday afternoon, following the invitation of the protesting workers.

"The protest you are carrying out is not in your exclusive interest, but in the interest of the company, the corporate complex, all the workers at Eurallumina, and the entire region ," he said.

"As Minister of Labor and as a Sardinian, I believe I have only done my duty in coming here, to express not only my personal support but that of the entire government . The ministry is available to provide all the necessary tools," Calderone added, "although, before discussing tools like redundancy payments, I prefer to talk about the jobs that still exist."
