Agreement has been reached on the measures proposed by the Region to address the rising costs incurred by 118 emergency service operators . This is what emerged from the meeting held today between representatives of the Health Department, Areus, and 118 operators.
At the heart of the debate is the high cost of fuel and the resulting economic hardship that weighs on the associations and operators who work daily to provide an essential service to citizens.

To address the emergency caused by rising fuel prices, the Department and Areus, according to a statement, have committed "to intervene, pending the renewal of the agreement with 118 operators, by awarding a compensatory amount commensurate with the price increases certified by the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security."

The department will authorize Areus to transfer the funds based on "adequately documented" increases using resources from the Regional Health Fund.
During the meeting, the more general issue of increasing service management costs was also addressed. On this front, the department committed to meeting the requests in the next regional budget.

The commitment includes the allocation of €5 million annually for each of the years 2027, 2028, and 2029, for a total of €15 million over the three-year period, with the aim of supporting the continuity and economic sustainability of 118's activities.
