He's still shaken, but the thousands of messages of solidarity he's received have reawakened him, at least on a human level. Emanuele Cani , after all, only tripped and fell—partly shattering—on the stained-glass window created by the artist Mario Sironi in 1932 , when the building on Via Veneto in Rome housed the Fascist Ministry of Corporations, depicting the "Workers' Charter."

"What I don't understand is the serial hatred on social media," says the Industry Councillor of the Municipal Council, Todde, 57, from Carbonia, married, with one daughter, a former MP and regional secretary of the Sardinian Democratic Party.

" There's a fact: I almost died during my work . In two ways: I found myself with my face and part of my body suspended ten meters in the air ; if it collapsed, the central section of the glass could have fallen on me . It wasn't as if I had been a suicide bomber or an art destroyer: I was at the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy for work, on the occasion of Expo 2025. And, after sampling an appetizer at the lunch buffet, I was preparing to reach the Regional Council headquarters in the capital to prepare for the council meeting."

How could this have happened? " I put my foot down badly, and since there was no safety barrier against the windows, I almost fell several floors ."

There's a video of his fall with the most absurd comments. " I know. Even that someone would have liked me to have fallen ." Does his role as regional councilor have an impact? "It could be, but it's still not acceptable. There's a limit to everything ."
