The funeral of Domenico Gaspa, the 89-year-old man from Sennori who died in the Villa Celeste retirement home in Platamona, where he had been a resident for some time, was due to take place this morning, Monday, December 1st, at 11:00 a.m.

The funeral, however, was postponed by order of the judiciary. A sudden halt. The surprise came on Sunday evening when everything was already ready for the final farewell at the church of San Basilio in Sennori. "Attention," the parish announced, "the funeral of our brother Domenico Gaspa is canceled. The body has been taken over by the judiciary."

The true reasons for the measure are unknown, but attention is focused on the retirement home where the pensioner's body lies. The decision was made just hours before the funeral scheduled for today in the church of San Basilio. "In this moment of profound sorrow," was the message from the parish, "we entrust everything to God's mercy and support the family with our prayers so that they may find the strength to face this pain."
