The newly licensed driver, who committed a daring escape on Friday night in Dorgali, attempted to evade checkpoints because he claimed he was late for a date with his girlfriend. The incident ended after a brief pursuit by the Carabinieri of the Siniscola Company. The incident is part of the extensive extraordinary territorial control operation carried out in Dorgali and surrounding municipalities, aimed at combating drunk driving and urban decay.

The young man was stopped at the entrance to the town and fined for speeding at night, a particularly dangerous behavior he justified by claiming he needed to reach his partner. During the operation, officers reported five people at large: a woman caught driving with a blood alcohol level well above the legal limit, and another driver who refused to take a breathalyzer test despite being clearly intoxicated. All had their licenses revoked.

Two other drivers were fined administratively because their blood alcohol levels were slightly above the legal limit. Special attention was paid to mopeds, which were the subject of complaints from residents regarding noise nuisance in the evenings. The checks resulted in the fines of ten drivers, with significant points deducted from their licenses, and the administrative seizure of five vehicles, which were found to have altered construction, had license plates hidden, or carried more than the permitted number of passengers.
