There's a new twist in the investigation into the devastating fire that destroyed the Olbia-based Nautica Acqua shipyard and the forty yachts inside on the afternoon of April 22, causing hundreds of millions of euros in damage. The Tempio Pausania Prosecutor's Office has obtained testimony from a witness who witnessed the very early stages of the blaze, specifically when the flames ignited.
The testimony was collected as part of the defense investigation conducted by the lawyers of the Olbia-based company Maori. According to prosecutors, the flames originated from a yacht owned by the Olbia-based company, known internationally for building ultra-luxury vessels. The testimony contradicts the Gallura prosecutor's reconstruction.
In fact, the person interviewed a few days ago says he saw very high flames rising from a yacht other than the Maori 54. The witness indicates the vessel from which burning pieces of the nylon protective cover also flew.
The report describes a shocking scene, with flames reaching the roof of the Cala Saccaia warehouse. The witness says he didn't see the fire extinguishing system activate and attempted in vain to use the fire hydrants, which were out of order because there was no water to feed them.
Maori is being defended by lawyers Giampaolo Murrighile, Sebastiano Giaquinto, and Giuseppe Farris, who declined to comment on the latest developments in the investigation.
