Tragedy shortly before 7pm on Wednesday on the outskirts of Desulo .
A 55-year-old housewife from the village, Carmela Secci, who was walking in the company of her husband Ciriaco Frongia, a bricklayer, and a friend, was run over and killed by a Fiat Punto.
It happened along the provincial road 7, the road that leads to Fonni. The driver of the car immediately stopped to give first aid.
The 118 doctors intervened on the spot with Aritzo's ambulance and the air ambulance but it was all useless.
The carabinieri were also present. To allow for the surveys, the road was temporarily closed to traffic.
The victim had two children. The drama shocked the country.
The funeral is scheduled for Friday 1 September at 4.30 pm in the parish of Sant'Antonio Abate.
