Desulese gives up his table to the tourist couple in the full restaurant, 5-star review: «Here we are hospitable»

“Generous and hospitable to sos istranzos” the poet Antioco Casula “Montanaru” wrote in 1904 in honor of his Desulo.

And even after 120 years, the hospitality towards foreigners in transit in the town is almost unchanged. It has been handed down from generation to generation, through small but significant gestures.

Like the one told by the Alghero tourist entrepreneur Pietro Fiori, who in recent days wanted to reward the S'Abile pizzeria with a 5-star review.

An evaluation that was not only based on the good food tasted last May 11th together with his wife Alex , but also on the act of generosity reserved for him by Costante Littera, a bricklayer from Desula.
The pizzeria, thanks to the concert by Elio and the Istentales, was fully booked. But Littera, seeing the couple of tourists in line, didn't think twice and gave up the table he had booked.

«When we arrived», writes Fiori, «the pizzeria was full and we hadn't booked. However, a girl on the staff was very kind and found us a table. Only later did we learn that a man from Desulo, when he noticed the situation, had given up his reserved seat to let us sit, because we were two foreigners."

«This is not something that happens every day», added Fiori, «we were left speechless. And it wasn't the only demonstration of hospitality and kindness received in Desulo. So, in addition to the really good pizza, well leavened and cooked properly, in addition to the kindness of the staff, we tasted the hospitality of the town. We will definitely be back."

Littera is also excited and reiterates: «At Desulo we never turn our backs on visitors. We are a people of wayfarers and we always try to reciprocate the affection that has been shown to us in every corner of Sardinia."

After a day of work, the bricklayer continues, «I had booked to eat a pizza with my wife. Seeing the tourist couple looking for a table , I understood the situation and discreetly asked to give up the reservation. We had no problem eating later."

A gesture of which Carlo Floris, owner of the pizzeria together with his wife Sara Cuboni, is proud: «Costante's gesture pleasantly impressed us. And it reflects the extraordinary generosity that has always animated our community. We are happy with the nice review written by Pietro Fiori, who praised our restaurant. We consider it a push to always do better."

Mayor Gian Cristian Melis is also proud of the gesture and has not hidden his satisfaction in recent hours: «It is well known news that Desulo is a hospitable town. These episodes happen that make sense of everything. In our small poverty, in our contradictions, we have peaks of greatness that are unattainable. Compliments to the S'Abile pizzeria, a good refuge for every visitor. And thanks to every villager who preaches and practices beauty and hospitality."
