The autopsy ordered by Tempio Prosecutor Gregorio Capasso on the body of Gianpaolo Demartis, the 57-year-old originally from Bultei who died last Saturday after being tasered by the Carabinieri , has begun at the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Sassari.

Two soldiers from the Olbia operations unit are under investigation : the head of the escort who attempted to stop Demartis who, in an altered state, was attacking citizens, and was wounded in the face by the 57-year-old, and the colleague who used the taser .

Through the SIC, the independent Carabinieri union, which appointed Maria Paola Marro, a lawyer from the Milan court and an expert in military law, a consultant was appointed to assist in the autopsy : Dr. Francesco Serra, medical director of the Sassari Local Health Authority.

The autopsy and Taser tests will clarify the cause of death, which was cardiac arrest. It is important to determine how many electric shocks Demartis received, as his family reported he suffered from heart disease and was taking life-saving medications .

The lawyer representing the victim's family, Marco Manca of the Sassari court, did not appoint any consultants: "The family, in line with what has been said in recent days, has confidence in the work of the judiciary and its consultants," Manca declared.
